“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”

— Carl R. Rogers

I believe feeling understood can create room for meaningful change. Together, we can explore what matters to you and what you’d like to work toward.

Debi Daniel is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Virginia and the owner and sole therapist at Day by Day Grounded Therapy LLC. Her interest in helping people and families work through challenges began in high school and led her to a career in therapy.

Debi moved from Ghana to Charlottesville as a teenager and has called it home ever since, apart from her time at James Madison University. Her African upbringing and experience working with diverse communities bring a multicultural perspective to her practice. She provides therapy in English and Ewe.

Debi works with children, teens, adults, and couples. Her areas of focus include ADHD, anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, trauma, and life transitions.

Her trauma-informed approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), and Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT). Communication and collaboration guide her work with clients.

A few helpful answers

It’s okay to
have questions.

Who will I work with?

If you begin therapy here, you’ll work directly with Debi Daniel, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Virginia and the owner and sole therapist at Day by Day Grounded Therapy.

What can we work on together?

Debi supports children, teens, adults, and couples with concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, trauma, and life transitions. A consultation is a chance to discuss what you’re looking for and whether her approach is a good fit for your needs.

What are the session rates?

Office therapy sessions cost $175. Ask about sliding-scale rates for out-of-network care and discuss payment questions with Debi before scheduling. If you plan to use insurance, confirm your coverage and any reimbursement with your insurer. Please don’t send insurance numbers or other sensitive information by email.

What should I include in my first message?

Your name, a way to contact you, and a brief general question are enough. There’s no need to share your personal history or sensitive health information to get started.

A short hello is enough.
You don’t have to find all the right words.

A simple first step.

Use our secure SimplePractice inquiry form to share a little about what you’re looking for and ask about a 15-minute consultation.

Start a conversation

You’ll continue to SimplePractice to complete and send your inquiry.

Inquiries are not monitored for emergencies. If you need urgent help, contact your local emergency services.

Your inquiry & privacy

A thoughtful first hello.

The “Start a conversation” button opens our inquiry form on SimplePractice. You’ll enter your information and submit it there; inquiries are received in the practice’s SimplePractice account. This website does not collect or store inquiry form responses.

SimplePractice handles information you provide through its form under its own privacy practices. If you choose to email the practice instead, use email for general questions and avoid sensitive health or insurance details. Ordinary email has privacy risks.

Sending an inquiry does not establish a therapist–client relationship or confirm an appointment. Before therapy begins, you and Debi can discuss the intake process, fees, confidentiality, and whether her services are appropriate for your needs.
